Let’s be honest—travel baseball isn’t just a weekend event… it’s a full-blown expedition. If you’re a baseball mom, you already know: it’s not just about the game. It’s about the snacks, the sweat, the cold mornings, the unexpected rain, the meltdowns (yes, ours too), and all the stuff that makes the weekend survivable and successful. Whether it’s your first travel tournament or your 20th, here’s my tried-and- true checklist for a smooth 3–4 day baseball weekend.

🧳 THE BASICS: Gear + Uniform Essentials

Let’s start with the obvious—but easy to forget if you’re packing in a rush.

  • ✅ Uniforms (Bring extras! Pants get dirty fast.)

  • ✅ Cleats + Slides (nothing worse than walking around all day in spikes)

  • ✅ Belt, Socks, and Cup

  • ✅ Glove, Bat, Helmet, Batting Gloves

  • ✅ Team hoodie or jacket (even if it’s “summer”… mornings are rude)

  • ✅ Practice balls for warmups

  • ✅ Laundry bag or plastic bags for dirty uniforms

  • ✅ Extra jersey if your kid is a catcher or sweats like it’s their job

🌤 PREP FOR ALL WEATHER

Weather will humble you. Prepare for all the seasons—at once.

HOT WEATHER:

  • 🧴 Sunscreen (spray for arms/legs, stick for face)

  • 🧢 Hats and cooling towels

  • 💦 Electrolyte drinks (Liquid I.V., Gatorade, Pedialyte powder packets)

  • 🧊 Portable fan or handheld misters

  • ⛱ Popup tent for shade (bonus points if you bring two and claim your turf)

  • 🪑 Chairs with built-in umbrella or canopy

  • 🥶 Cooler with frozen water bottles—they double as ice packs

COLD/RAINY WEATHER:

  • 🧥 Layers, blankets, hoodies, beanies, and gloves (yes, even in May)

  • ☔ Rain ponchos (one for you, one for the kid, one for good karma)

  • 🥾 Extra socks and shoes (wet feet = disaster)

  • 💺 Stadium seat cushions (for the icy bleachers)

  • 💨 Portable propane heater or hand warmers (lifesaver during early morning games)

🛒 THE WAGON HAUL: Everything You’ll Want (and Then Some)

If you don’t have a foldable wagon yet—this is your sign. It will be your MVP.

Here’s what’s in mine:

  • 🧃 Snacks galore: protein bars, fruit snacks, trail mix, Goldfish, PB&Js, Uncrustables, jerky

  • 🍿 Snack bags for siblings who didn’t ask to be here but must be fed

  • 💧 Case of water, plus energy drinks for mom (hello, Celsius)

  • 🧻 Baby wipes, hand sanitizer, and paper towels (everything gets gross)

  • 🧴 Bug spray and anti-itch cream (you’ll thank me)

  • 🔌 Chargers + portable power banks (especially if you’re livestreaming games or scrolling TikTok)

  • 🎒 First-aid kit: band-aids, Tylenol, Tums, sunscreen, blister pads

  • 👕 Change of clothes (for your kid and YOU—just trust me)

🏨 HOTEL LIFE SURVIVAL

If you’re staying overnight, hotel prep can make or break the trip.

  • 🧼 Laundry detergent pods + stain remover (baseball pants don’t care about hotel washers)

  • 🩳 Swimsuits for post-game pool hangs

  • 🛁 Epsom salt for muscle soreness (soak in the tub like a pro athlete)

  • 🔄 Ziplock bags for organizing uniforms, snacks, etc.

  • 🌃 White noise machine or fan (hotel walls are thin and teammates are loud)

  • 🧺 Collapsible laundry basket or hamper

Pro tip: Make a grab-and-go “Game Bag” with everything your kid needs for game time—so you’re not digging through a suitcase in the hotel lobby at 6am.

💁‍♀️ MOM STUFF (Because You Matter Too)

This is not just your kid’s weekend—you’re in this too.

  • 👟 Comfy walking shoes (you’ll hit 10k steps minimum)

  • 🎧 AirPods for early morning coffee runs

  • 📓 Clipboard, notebook, or planner if you’re a team mom or handling scorekeeping

  • ☕ Travel mug (some fields have coffee… most don’t)

  • 💅 A backup mom fit: leggings, hat, sunglasses, oversized tee = game day uniform

📸 BONUS MOMENTS TO CAPTURE

  • Team cheers and dugout moments

  • First hits or strikeouts

  • Mud-splattered jerseys and proud smiles

  • Candid sibling chaos in the stands

  • That moment your kid looks for you after a great play 🥹

FINAL MOM-ISMS:

  • You’re gonna forget something. It’s okay. There’s a Target somewhere.

  • Stay flexible. Weather delays, schedule changes, and cranky teammates happen.

  • Bring the fun. Sidewalk chalk, bubbles, and mini games for the little siblings are a game-changer.

  • Hydrate yourself too. Moms pass out too, y’all.

At the end of the day, it’s not just about baseball. It’s about memories, team spirit, and doing this wild, messy, exhausting, beautiful season with your kid. So pack like a pro, breathe through the chaos, and enjoy the ride.

Now go crush that weekend, mama. You’ve got this. 💪⚾❤️
